Neighbourhood-wide get-together for BU6 residents on 24th September 2011 PDF Print E-mail

Hi BU6 Residents

There is a plan to organize a neighbourhood-wide get-together for BU6 residents at the field on September 24th evening.

Why is this being planned?

It is for you to know your fellow residents, and perhaps by establishing this initial contact, you can start to look out for each other. It will help open channels of communications on the many hotly discussed issues in this forum, and improve the general security well-being. Perhaps to engage with the NPRs as well, if it is going to be opened to all.

Please let us know through the online poll below. We need to know likely numbers so as to work out the logistics, etc, etc. It is going to be your call, folks.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT MAY NOT HAPPEN IF THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH NUMBERS.

Click this link to let us know: (the standard disclaimer not to vote more than once apply)

Kind regards
K S Lee
(BU6 Committee)

Residents associations lend a hand to nab acid splasher PDF Print E-mail
Written by The Star
Wednesday, 18 May 2011

RESIDENTS associations have come to the aid of the police to nab the corrosive liquid splasher who is still on the loose in the Klang Valley.

The Brickfields Rukun Tetangga has been carrying out vigilance in groups near the SK Vivekananda school to ease the burden of the police.

Its chairman, S.K.K Naidu, said the patrol members would start their watch after school hours when students were leaving the premises.

Extra careful: Parents seen ushering their children into vehicles at SK Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar.
Too quiet: Persiaran Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur was one of the areas the splasher struck.

It has become apparent that the suspect or suspects preyed on victims walking along quiet alleys.

Kindergartens and day-care centres sprouting in BU PDF Print E-mail

RESIDENTS in Bandar Utama 3, Petaling Jaya, have urged the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to control the number of kindergartens and day-care centres mushrooming in their neighbourhood.

BU3 Area Committee chairman Lai Wing Fatt said there were six such establishments in the housing estate of 414 houses, worsening congestion and parking woes in the area.

“These are not small establishments, each has about 60 children. Sometimes residents cannot even reach their homes because of parents waiting in their cars to pick up their children,” he said, adding that the council had confirmed that three of the establishments were operating without a licence.

Congestion at your doorstep: BU3 has six kindergartens and daycare centres and has caused traffic woes in the area.
An addition: A new kindergarten was approved in BU3 recently even though there is already one in the area.

Lack of parking areas PDF Print E-mail
Written by The Star
Tuesday, 03 May 2011

WITH a family owning at least two cars these days, parking space in residential areas is scarce.

Many residents have resorted to placing objects in front of their houses to reserve the space for themselves and to prevent others from parking there.

Among the common items used to reserve the spots are flower pots, traffic cones, pails, plastic bollards and signs.

In some cases, placing such items on the road would cause disputes among the neighbours.

A Bandar Utama resident said her neighbour placed a traffic cone at the boundary of their houses but often pushed it further to her side.

“It’s a childish game we’re playing. I push it back to the boundary but whenever we remove our car parked outside the house, they will push the cone back to our side.

“We should respect each other and keep our cars within our own boundary instead of being so selfish,” she said.
